Personal Injury Overview
Personal Injury due to the Negligence of others
The definition of "negligence"
varies from situation to situation, but the loose definition of negligence is
'the failure to exercise 'ordinary care' to avoid injury to another's person or
property.'
The general definition of
"Ordinary Care" is 'the care which a reasonably careful person would use under
the same or similar circumstances.'
Oklahoma also recognizes
"Comparable Negligence" which can reduce the recovery an injured person is
entitled to receive.
Because these definitions are not
always static and because each situation can be unique, you should consult with
an attorney immediately. The Mortimer Law Firm provides free no obligation
consultations to injured persons. Even if you do not engage the Mortimer
Law Firm, you should give serious consideration as to engaging another law firm
which has attorneys who limit their practice scope to personal injury.
Let me give you an analogy why
you do not want just any attorney handling your personal injury case.
Your family care doctor may
technically be qualified to treat you, but if you had a brain hemorrhage,
would you want your family care doctor to be your primary treating doctor, or
would you want a doctor who knows the workings of the human brain inside and
out?
The attorneys here not only know
how to help you through your personal injury, but we know how to negotiate with
the insurance carriers, and, if the claim cannot be settled, we have the
experience to successfully litigate your claim.
